MISSION

To provide students with a strong scientific foundation in the study of human behavior, emotions and mental processes. The program aims to develop critical thinking, research skills, and ethical awareness while promoting empathy and cultural sensitivity. It prepares students to apply psychological principles to real-life situations, pursue advanced studies, and contribute effectively to mental health, well-being and social
development.

To nurture empathetic, ethical, and scientifically grounded psychology graduates who will understand human behaviour, promote mental well-being, and contribute to building healthier individuals, cmmunities, and societies through research, service, and professional excellence.

Srimathi Sundaravalli Memorial College offers psychology as a major branch of study from the academic year 2026-27. After much thinking, we are introducing this course as psychology underpins all knowledge systems and all knowledge systems are handled by human beings who form the basis of this course. The department functions with well qualified and experienced professors who will go beyond the curriculum to make the course engaging and enjoyable. In fact, this course will form an important segment of the SSM college academia as professors will also offer personalized  counselling to all students of the college, if needed.
